The estuary fishing enthusiast would love this area around Stuarts Point for fishing and crabbing. Little River cottage's big back yard is large enough to house your boat while you holiday with us.
There is nothing nicer than jumping in your boat and exploring the many estuaries that form part of the Macleay River system.  ... And a tip to the new to the area. Mobile reception is not good in parts of this river system and with many different directions to go, make sure you keep an eye out for familiar land marks or you are bound to get a bit lost.
If you have a kayak, then this is perfect for you as well, but not suited to jet ski's  as the many oyster leases in the area form a terrible underwater hazard for those that travel across the water to fast.

While cruising around you may be guided by pods of friendly dolphins that are always happy to play along side the boat.
I took this photo as we headed home from a lovely afternoon on the main river, simply doing some fishing ( and getting our dinner), and exploring.  You can never get enough of this!

Spring At Stuarts Point

Little River Cottage is alive with bursts of colour, with the Azalea's flashing various shades of pink and our lovely pinwheel Protea coming in a dark burnt orange, red and pink. We were also delighted to see one of the beautiful orchards in full bloom.

Bookings can be made at    Little River Cottage

 Pinwheel Protea

This delighted a group of guests we had staying for a week. They loved to have breakfast and lunches on the front deck and look at the orchard whenever they could.

They were also delighted to discover that our edible garden was for everyones use and they could pick fresh herbs every day. To their delight the strawberries ripened and were also happily eaten by the group.

Bulbs have started shooting and all around Stuarts Point small crocus flowers are starting to appear. In one paddock the flowers are like a spring field of colour with the flowers heads reaching above the grass. You can off course walk to this within a few minutes of leaving Little River Cottage.

Bird lovers would be delighted as Bee Eater Birds make their homes in the long grass and simply come out and crunch those bee's right outside their  front door.

Big boys toys as well as for the kids.

We are pleased to say that as well as having a large enclosed games room that holds a Pool Table, Ping Pong table and Dart Board we also have some toys for a growing family. There are a couple of tennis rackets, and with the tennis court is only 400 meters walk away it's an easy choice for  a bit of fun. We have a football, ten pin bowls game, skipping rope, cricket bat and wickets plus some toys for the younger kids. Across the road from us is the council owned children's play ground that has swings, a sand pit, slippery dip and activity centre.  You could easily enjoy a few hours here with the children as there is also BBQ's  and tables and a park ground big enough for any game.

Our Entertainment room has a variety of games, from ping pong to darts and pool and is all accessed easily via the outdoor verandah and BBQ area or the house itself .

It's so easy to head across the road and walk into the public park fronting the river at Stuarts point NSW. while the kids are playing, you can cook the snags on one of the BBQ's to make an afternoon out of it. don't forget to bring your rod if you are keen to d o a spot of fishing.

Stuarts Point's Little River Cottage welcomes guests.

We have officially launched Little River Cottage as a holiday house for up to five people in formal beds and an extra two on a fold out lounge or deluxe air mattress. Because we are child friendly and a great place for a family holiday, we have appointed the sleep out with an iron day bed, scattered with european pillows and just waiting for that child to claim as their bed for the holiday. This room is open to the lounge room and not a formal bedroom as such, but is a lovely spot to relax, take in the view or read a book during the day.
Through the large glass windows you can still get a glimpse of the river whilst you kick back and relax.
In the cottage we have a selection of novels for your enjoyment, so if you forget that book we may have one that you can enjoy while you holiday with us.
Little River Cottage was built in the 1950's, not as a beach shack, but as a permanent home and you will find the remnants of the 50's still shining through in the art deco doorway entrances, the very high ceilings and a few 1950's cupboards that still exist in the laundry. Paying homage to Retro styling, we have scoured as many areas as possible to find the decor to match the period and style of the building. You never know where you'll find one of our little retro treasures!
Daybed sleep out entry is from the open lounge room.
